The panel that faces the wall. Nobody opens it, no review mentions it, and a sheet of plywood would hold the drawers up just as well.
Software has more backs than fronts — the trace nobody reads, the job that runs once at 3am, the log written for someone who may never arrive. That is most of what I build. It is also the only reason the front can be trusted.
On descent
One climbs, one sees. One descends, one sees no longer, but one has seen.

Daumal was writing about mountains. It reads like a specification.
The climb is where you can see. The descent is where you act on what you saw and can no longer check. Most of the work lives in that second half — instruments that keep knowing after the seeing stops. A trace, a log, a run you can repeat: the memory of what one saw higher up, made legible to someone who was never there.
